Bring a sense of the old world to your driveway, patio, or walkway edges with classic Belgian/Belgium Block Cobbles. Belgian block and Belgium block are names used interchangeably to describe large granite blocks that were originally used for ship ballasts. There is no relation to Belgium at all besides the ships transporting between there and the United States. Belgian blocks are not true cobblestones either as a true cobblestone is cut from rounded river rocks, but cobble is a description of the shape of the cut and therefore can be applied to Belgian block that is cut in a similar shape.
